I always close background processes to see if it helps but it doesnt. I'm trying to lower my fan speeds so that it doesn't make so much noise at night, and the only way I could completely stop the fan is by putting it in eco mode, but that drastically makes the performance worse, whether its playing a game or when using only spotify.
I also saw posts about using softwares like throttlestop or intel xtu? I've started college and use my laptop for practically school and games on freetime.
I did some researching and saw some stuff about undervolting cpu or accessing the settings in the BIOS. I honestly have no clue what any of them do but I used them frequently to adjust my fan speeds(There is another section for controlling fan speed, but it isn't working the way I'm expecting to unless It's in eco mode, which lowers gaming performance). Dragon Center has a shift setting called Turbo, Sport, Comfort, Eco, and Power Options. Can be a simple control utilizing Dell approved specs. *i'm clueless regarding PCs/Laptops, that this is my first reddit post, so sorry if im unclear, tldr at bottom* 2 Bronze 621417 04-02-2018 05:48 AM LAPTOP FAN CONTROL There NEEDS to be a utility or BIOS update to ALLOW Fan control on Dell xps 15, at the very least to Allow it to go into high performance fan speeds EARLIER.
